The Wicker Man is an enemy that appears in Serious Sam: Next Encounter.
Overview[]
Created from the tortured souls of shamed Chinese warriors by the renegade sorcerer Lo Pan, these grotesque creatures are raised from the earth with diseased limbs of wicker, a lone, dilated eyeball hidden by their hats. Their soul will be in constant torment until the day they are finally released from their bonds by death.[1]
Appearances[]
The Wicker Man is one of the rarest enemies in the game, only appearing in its namesake level, "Cave of the Wickermen". A total of 26 Wicker Men appear in the level.
Behavior and skills[]
Upon spotting the target, a Wicker Man will try to get close to them and slap them. They run fairly slow, which leaves them vulnerable to attacks while spawning, and they take a second to initiate their attack, which makes their attacks easy to avoid. However, their slap attack deals a lot of damage, which can make groups of Wicker Men dangerous if they surround the player.
Tactics[]
- The Double-Barrel Shotgun works well against the Wicker Man; one shot will kill them at close range.
- The Wicker Man can be easily avoided by walking away from it. It can't attack unless it is right in front of its target.
- The double-barrel shotgun and XM4000 Minigun are effective weapons against groups of Wicker Men. The shotgun will instantly kill one of them and has a low-reload speed, allowing the player to dispatch them quickly, while the minigun will do a lot of damage to groups in a short period of time.
- When paired with other enemies, the Wicker Man is considered a low-priority target because it is often easy to avoid it.
Trivia[]
- The Wicker Man's origins is a reference to w:c:villains:Lo Pan:Lo Pan the main antagonist of the 1986 American fantasy action-comedy film Big Trouble in Little China.
