Vlambeer is a Dutch independent video game devlopment studio based in Utrecht. It is a relatively small company that consists of two members, Rami Ismail and Jan Willem Nijman. They are known for working on many game series, such as Nuclear Throne and Serious Sam: The Random Encounter.
History[]
Vlambeer was founded on 1 September 2010 by Rami Ismail and Jan Willem Nijman, soon after they dropped out of the Utrecht School of the Arts. At the time, they had been developing a game outside of the school but when the school found out, the school demanded that they hand over their rights to the game. Having refused, they both decided to drop out.[1]
Soon after developing many games, Devolver Digital came across Vlambeer, and wanted them to develop a game in the Serious Sam series. The studio and Devolver Digital agreed to develop and publish a turn-based role-playing game, Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, which was released on 24 October 2011. It was during the development of The Random Encounter that Vlambeer released many small games, most notably Luftrauser.
