The Uni-Directional Microwave Transmitter (U.M.T. or UMT for short) is an energy weapon that appears in Serious Sam Advance.
Overview[]
Jury rigged from a space communications array this baby is powered by powerpack that can only be recharged back at base. It only has three charges before needing to be replenished. At the end of each world or death match When fired everything within 20m has the water temperature in it's molecules raised to boiling point, causing deep discomfort, swiftly followed by an explosive death. Sam is free from this being at the centre, but so are any enemies that are right up close.
The UMT was created by jury-rigging a space communication ray. When fired, it will cause anything within 20 meters of the blast to have their water molecules raised to their boiling point, which eventually kills them. However, if a target is right next to the user when the weapon is fired, they will not be harmed by it.
Tactics[]
- The UMT is very effective against groups of powerful enemies, such as the Gunrilla. Instead of wasting a lot of ammo and health trying to fight them off normally, just take out the UMT and fire. It will kill them in one hit, saving the player a lot of trouble.
- It is also very effective against the hordes summoned by the Wolfinator, the final boss. This makes fighting him much easier.
- The UMT has very limited ammo, so the player should make sure they really need to use it before firing.
Trivia[]
- The UMT is a very rare weapon, only appearing in the last level: Caesar's Palace (SSA).
- The UMT's sprite is a slightly modified XOP Flamethrower.
- The weapon behaves similarly to the XPMR "Burner" Raygun, except that it causes enemies to explode after when they are killed.
