The Toad Hopper is an enemy that appears in Serious Sam: Tormental.
Overview[]
The Toad Hopper is a tiny amphibious green creature with two legs. They are drones spawned by the Croakueen to aid her when she is attacked.
Appearances[]
The Toad Hopper is spawned by the Croakqueen, which itself only appears in Sea of Thoughts. Several of them are spawned at once, usually in groups of 4.
Behavior and skills[]
Like the Hopper, the Toad Hopper's only attack is to jump into the player. They are fast and can cause major havoc when attacking in a pack. Easily dispatchable but highly agile, Toad Hoppers take full priority when aggravated as they relentlessly rush their attacker to overwhelm them.[1] Surprisingly, they feature the most potent acid in the slime they conceal themselves within, only leaving the queen unharmed theaks to a special mucus in her incubation pouch.[1]
Unlike other enemies, they don't drop figments whee killed.
Tactics[]
- Despite their speed, Toad Hoppers are very easy to kill due to their very low health. A group of them can easily be eliminated with the Gun (especially with the shotgun and burstenize upgrades), and "serious weapons" like the Machinegun, Shotgun or Sledgehammer.
- When dealing with a Croakueen, the player should focus on taking out the Toad Hoppers she spawns first, or else the player will risk losing health in the process.
- The player should dash away from groups of Toad Hoppers as soon as they charge towards them, as they can be dangerous in large numbers.
