"The Temple of Steam" is the thirty-second level of Serious Sam: Next Encounter.

Plot

Advancing deeper into Altantis, Sam must now proceed through the 'Temple of Steam', a strange structure located underground that was constructed by the Atlanteans that provides steam to Atlantis below. The laws of physics don't seem to apply here, with strange gravity distortions and other strange mechanisms at work. Sam must get through here to make his way further into Atlantis, in order to find out the source of the space-time disturbance.

We have fallen through the steam vents and into the Atlantean underground. This appears to be a temple where the Atlanteans worshipped and the nearest translation I can get is 'Temple of Steam'. Steam was a gift from God to the Atlanteans. The temple also seems to serve a practical purpose, being part of the apparatus by which the steam power is distributed across Atlantis. Be careful, Sam. Up until now we've been facing Mental's forces all across antiquity, but this is different. The rules don't apply here, I'm even picking up traces of gravity distortion on my sensors. We've followed the trail here and we'll follow it all the way to the end, but keep your wits about you.

I can't fathom the purpose of these thumpers, but they appear to be part of a large generator. Tread carefully now, we don't want you getting so far only to be flattened in an industrial accident.

Secrets

1. When you pass the trap set by the Atlanteans, you will find yourself on a circular platform. Do not rush to leave it: the platform leading to it ends with two turrets, on which there are two barely visible buttons – click on them to activate the teleporter. You will be thrown onto exactly the same circular platform, but completely devoid of enemies. But instead, there will be a lot of cartridges for your weapon scattered here. After making a circle, you will again find yourself at the teleporter, which will bring you back.
2. In the second room with pistons, passing the second frontier of these massive gizmos, go inside this mechanism. There will be a 3 treasure artifacts here (2500 points each). Despite the fact that you could have passed three such milestones before, only here will you discover the secret.
