"The Silk Road" is the twenty-second level of Serious Sam: Next Encounter. This is the only level that the Serious Combine appear in. If the combine is destroyed, the level ends instantly and regardless of how far the player has progressed.
Plot[]
Sam has reached the Silk Road, a long track of road that runs through a vast region of China. It should hopefully lead him to the city of Dunhuang, located in an oasis situated in the middle of the Gobi Desert, which is his next destination.

You have reached the long desert road that leads to the oasis city of Dunhuang. You left your Serious Shades back at the base, so you won't stand long out here in the sun by yourself. We are sending suitable transport through our timelock which should be with you as soon as the machine gets a lock on your co-ordinates. It's not a sports model but I think you'll like it...
Secrets[]
- There are 2 Treasure Chests behind the fort on the left side (1000 points each) and a switch for the right tower. Tap and rare cartridges will appear next to it.
- As soon as the harvester appears, drive diagonally to the left, crossing the desert. There will be a group of 5 treasure chests (1000 points each), move further. There is a scarecrow, destroy it and jump into the portal to the cannon with balls. Even further behind the scarecrow there will be a group of 5 treasure chests (1000 points each).
Treasure[]
- There are 2 treasure chests behind the fort on the right side (1000 points each).
- You need to pick up 2 treasure chests right on the road and go through several battles to open the gate (1000 points each).
- Groups of 5 treasure chests (30 total) are located on distant hills in the desert: 3 groups on the left and right sides (1000 points each).
