"Finally, a beefy opponent!"

This Khnum, referred to by the High Priests of Memphis and NETRICSA as the "Ram-God", was involved with a religious cult known as the Children of Amon-Ra. This supposed 'deity' was fed sacrifices on a regular basis as part of a ritual to appease him.[1] He serves as the main antagonist and final boss of the Legend of the Beast expansion pack for Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter.

Biography[]

The Ram-God was initially part of Mental's invasion force on Earth in ancient Egypt. He used to terrorize the residents of the grand city of Memphis at night, killing anyone that stood in his way, until he was eventually captured by the Children of Amon-Ra, a group of priests who resided in Memphis, Egypt. The group, believing the Khnum to be the vengeful ancient Egyptian deity of the same name, placed the creature inside of the Great Obelisk.[1][1]

The priests constructed an ankh-shaped sacrificial pit as a shrine inside the Great Obelisk, and would regularly throw animal and human sacrifices into the pit in order to appease him. From this point onwards, the creature would become known as the "Ram-God".[1]

Legend of the Beast[]

Sam, upon entering the Temple of Ptah in Memphis, discovers that the artifact he is looking for - the Sign of Amon-Ra - was not in the temple as he and NETRICSA had previously suspected. NETRICSA analyzes the inscriptions on the altar, and discovers that a group of Egyptians who call themselves the "Children of Amon-Ra" have taken the artifact and given it to a beastly "Ram-God" who resides within the Great Obelisk.[2] So, Sam makes his way there. Sam comes across the ankh-shaped chamber, and enters it, where he encounters the Ram-God.[1]

Since the Ram-God is way too tough for Sam, and the fact his weapons barely leave a dent on the beast, Sam has to activate several switches in the room, which activate a mechanism that severely damages the Ram-God. Eventually, Sam kills the creature, takes the Amon-Ra item from his neck, and continues on his journey.

Unlike Khnums in the original version of Serious Sam 3: BFE, the Ram-God is vulnerable to every weapon, aside from the Serious Bomb (which the player cannot acquire normally in the mini-campaign anyway). As before, he still has a 25% sniper bullet resistance.

Tactics[]

  • The room has six switches and a metal platform in the middle, where a lightbeam shines. One of the switches is located above the Ram-God's throne, and another one is on the opposite side of the wall, facing the one above the throne. Two others are on the right and left upper wings of the room, and another group of two are on the right and left lower wings of the room. The ones on the lower wings of the room need to be activated in order for the one opposite of the throne to be activated. The one above the throne will not activate unless all others are active.
  • The room has a number of columns, which the Khnum can easily smash, but they can protect the player from incoming fireballs.
  • The Ram-God has a tremendous health amount of 100,000 HP. Given that fact, the player's weapons will do virtually no harm to him. Although, once all 6 switches are activated, if the Khnum is hit by the electric beam, the beam will erase a third of his health should he stand in it for the full duration (the Ram-God is stunned while hit by the beam).
  • Unlike Khnums in Serious Sam 3 (both the original and Fusion versions), the Ram-God from the Legend of the Beast takes full damage from every weapon, aside from the Serious Bomb (which the player cannot acquire normally in the mini-campaign anyway). As before, he still has a 25% sniper bullet damage resistance. Even then, due to his massive health pool, he takes a whooping 130 fully charged shots from the SBC Cannon to kill, or 33 with Serious Damage active (possible only with cheats or in custom levels).

Behavior and skills[]

The Ram-God behaved just like any ordinary Khnum, except that he had much higher HP (100,000) compared to the usual HP of normal Khnums.

From medium to far range, the Ram-God will conjure and toss several fireballs at the player. His fireballs cannot be shot down and, once they make contact with the player, deal a high amount of damage, as well as a small amount of splash damage - the latter behavior is not seen in regular Khnum fireballs. They also deal a total of 35 damage (30 from the direct hit + 5 from splash damage), making them slightly stronger than regular Khnum fireballs. These fireballs don't home in on the target like fireballs tossed by the Common Aludran Reptiloid or Highlander Aludran Reptiloid, so they can easily evaded by sidestepping or hiding behind the multiple columns in the arena.

As his second attack, the Ram-God will punch or stomp on the player if they get too close. Directly touching the Ram-God will deal 10,000 damage to the player, killing them instantly regardless of the difficulty setting selected.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Immense Endurance and Durability: The Ram-God had incredible endurance, and was highly resistant to Sam's weapons. So much, in fact, that Sam was forced to use the switches in the room in order to wound and incapaciate the Ram-God. Sam ultimately used this strange device to finish off the Ram-God for good.[1]
  • High Hitpoints: The Ram-God had a tremendous amount of HP (100,000), which is the second highest of any boss in the Serious Sam series, only exceeded by the Mental Institution (with 1,000,000) from Serious Sam 2. Canonically, the Ram-God has the highest health of any Serious Sam boss prior to Serious Sam 4.
  • Fire Manipulation: An ability shared with the rest of his kind, the Ram-God possessed the ability to conjure multiple fireballs with his hands and use to them as projectiles to toss at his opponents.
  • Immense Strength: The Ram-God was very strong, easily capable of crushing through the multiple columns standing in the way between him and Sam. He could also deliver powerful close-range attacks, which consisted of stomps and swipes, with his hands and hooves.
