"The Monkeys of Juyongguan" is the twentieth level of Serious Sam: Next Encounter.
Plot[]
Sam is now at the Juyong Pass, a mountain pass that the Great Wall of China passes through. NETRICSA says that there is a signal coming from the second Time-Lock in the Gobi Desert, along the Silk Road, so Sam must now head there. However, he will have to deal with some pesky primates before proceeding.
Data[]
Juyongguan is a popular stop off along the Great Wall for traders and was also a key strategic stronghold for the Chinese. We get off the Great wall here and head into the desert, following the signal toward the second timelock. There are signs that the defenses have recently been overrun and an audio sweep of the area is full of chattering and whooping. There's monkey business afoot, so keep alert.
Secrets[]
- After you pick up the key and go down to the big arch, pay attention to the dragon that is depicted there (its golden image will be inscribed on the wall in front of the arch). Come back here after the battle in front of the gate. Shoot him in the eye and a secret room will open from under the stone floor. Liquid nitrogen and a treasure artefact containing 5000 points will appear here.
- Once at the last turn, where you will have a decent clash with the enemies, hurry up to emerge victorious and pay attention to the tree on the right (immediately after entering this open area). Smash this tree to hell so that a teleporter appears in its place, which will take you to the base of the walls at the beginning of the level. There will be an additional area here containing 6 treasure artefact (1000 points each) and a Serious Bomb.
Treasure[]
- After opening the door with the key, turn around the left corner, there will be an arrow of health pills pointing to the treasure artefact containing 5000 points.
