"Splashdown in Xifengkou" is the nineteenth level of Serious Sam: Next Encounter.

Plot

With the defeat of the Diablotaur at the Colosseum in ancient Rome, Sam pursues the Evil Serious Sam Clone through the Time-Lock. He ends up being teleported to a mountaineous region in the middle of the air and falls into a lake, which saves his fall. According to NETRICSA, he has ended up in feudal China, with Mental's forces also in the area, but they seem less organized than they were back in ancient Rome. Here, he needs to find out what causing the disturbances in the space-time continuum and make his way to the Great Wall of China.

• Description

Well, well. A timelock? The mystery thickens just as I thought we were close to solving it. Preliminary scans show you are in ancient China and that you are not alone, there are minions close by and they're in combat formations.

I've run my time sensors at a high resolution over the local time stream and discovered something interesting. There is a timelock here too! I'm still triangulating the data, but we must get to it as soon as possible. Someone is causing havoc throughout time on a much greater scale than we first thought and we have to stop them!

I don't know, but something about what we've seen just doesn't add up, Sam. The forces are similar to those of Mental's we've encountered before, but there's less organization. I'm going to keep investigating whilst you head toward the disturbance. I'll have a more exact location soon, but for now head up onto the Great Wall and make your way along it.

Regrettably, your trip in the timelock has stripped you of most of your weaponry.

Secrets

1. At the depth of the lake, shoot at the chest to get some Sonic rockets and a Treasure Chest containing 5000 points.
2. When you find yourself in a cave with lava lakes, pay attention to the health pill. Above it, under the very roof of the cave, there is a sign that can be demolished with a conventional shot. As soon as you destroy it, a stone platform will rise from the lava, leading to a cave with a treasure chest containing 5000 points.
3. At the very end of the level, when you enter the fortified tower, do not rush to the exit – go to the left and below the staircase level. There will be a Treasure Dog (2000 points) and a Treasure Chest (1000 points).

Treasure

1. There are 2 treasure chests in the cave under the spiral staircase and at the top of it (2000 points each).
2. There are 2 treasure artifacts at the top under the waterfall (500 points each).

Trivia

• While falling through the air, Sam does the following:
  • Sips from a cup of soda.
  • GameCube: Plays Serious Sam Advance on a Game Boy Advance.
  • PlayStation 2: Plays one of the previous missions, "Opening the Aurelian Gates".
  • Reads a newspaper about his previous mission in ancient Rome.
• The newspaper's headline reads "Sam Save The World Again!!".
