The Spinosaurus is an enemy that appears in Serious Sam: Double D and Serious Sam: Double D: XXL.

Overview[]

The Spinosaurus is a large red dinosaur with spines coming out of its back.

Appearances[]

They first appear at the end of Jurassic Reckoning and the rest of the levels that take place in the Jurassic period.

Behavior and skills[]

Spinosaurus are one of the toughest enemies in the game due to their very high health and massize size. They are very aggressive and will attempt to get close to the player in order to bite or kick them. If the player is on its back, it will also bite them. If there are other dinosaurs around a Spinosaurus, it will fight them and ignore the player until the dinosaur its fighting or the Spinosaurus dies.

Tactics[]

  • The player should avoid staying on the Spinosaurus' back for too long, as it will try to bite them.
  • Avoiding the Spinosaurus is as easy as walking backwards. If the player runs out of room, they can just jump on its back and then run in the direction they just came from.
  • Having a stack consisting of strong weapons, such as the LM32 Rocket Launcher and MadDog Grenade Launcher is highly recommended for quickly taking down this enemy.
  • The player should use the fact that other dinosaurs will attack the Spinosaurus to their advantage. A dinosaur and Spinosaurus fighting will distract the Spinosaurus, allowing the player to target other enemies. If there are no other enemies around, the player can either run to the next area or kill the Spinosaurus.
  • When paired with other enemies, the Spinosaurus should be a low priority threat. It fires no projectiles and it is easy to avoid it. The biggest problem it poses is that it will absorb bullets and projectiles meant for other enemies, depending on how close they are to the Spinosaurus.

Trivia[]

  • The Spinosaurus is the only dinosaur enemy that has not been modified by Mental.
  • In real life, the Spinosaurus did not exist in the Jurassic, but were around during the Late Cretaceous period. They also lived in what is now North Africa, and not in Nova Scotia.
