The Siren is an enemy that appears in Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope.

Overview

The Siren is a blue fish-like creature that lives in the waters of the planet Valtos.

Occurrence

Sirens are only encountered in the Valtos chapter of the game, appearing in The Swamp and The Old Forest, where they are encountered in small groups. They also sometimes appear in the arena level Forgotten Realm.

Behavior and skills

When the target is within range, the Siren will emerge from the water and fire an unguided projectile. These projectiles can be shot or blocked with the shield. After the Siren has fired a projectile, it will emerge from a different area and fire a projectile again. They are only vulnerable to damage when they are out of water.

Tactics

• The Bow is an excellent weapon to use against Sirens, as one shot will kill them, regardless of the difficulty level. However, the player should try to intercept where the Sirens are going, as the Siren can avoid the arrow if the player directly aims at it.
• The Siren's projectiles can be dodged either by shooting at them, or using a shield if the player doesn't have time to shoot them.
• The Laser Sword is a useful weapon for deflecting Siren projectiles as well as damaging them.
• Rapid-fire weapons, such as the XM214-A Minigun, are effective for taking out multiple Sirens.

Trivia

• The Siren has 2 unused death animations in the game files, though they can't be seen in gameplay as they always gib upon death.
