Rockets

Rockets are a type of ammo pickup that supplies ammunition for rocket launchers.

Overview[]

Rockets are 150mm Inferno missiles that serve as the primary source of ammunition for rocket launchers, such as the XPML21 Rocket Launcher. The amount of rockets in each pack varies; in Serious Sam 1, Serious Sam HD, Serious Sam 3: BFE and Serious Sam's Bogus Detour, it is 5, in Serious Sam 2 it is 8, and in Serious Sam: Double D and Serious Sam: Double D: XXL it is 15.

Appearances[]

Rockets are slightly common whenever they appear, often along with the rocket launcher or in secrets.

Rockets are usually more common than grenades, possibly because the rocket launcher is less potent than the grenade launcher and the developers didn't want the player having too much ammunition for the grenade launcher.

Variants[]

Serious Sam: Next Encounter has two variants of the normal rockets:

Homing rockets will lock onto a target and try to strike them, even if the rocket is fired in an area where it'd normally miss.
Sonic rockets are a more powerful version of the usual rockets that fires a sonic blast when it blows up. Both give five rockets of their type when picked up.

Behind the scenes[]

Rockets had a different model in Alpha and Test 1. The rockets were thinner, longer and were tipped red. The metal casing was also slightly thicker than that of the final version.

Trivia[]

The Serious Sam HD rockets model has a warning label that says "Beware. Rockets can be hazardous to your hands". This can't normally be seen in-game, but is more visible in the editor.
The Serious Sam 3 rockets model has "150mm Inferno" imprinted on the metal casing.
