The Propaganda Drone is a flying robot designed for broadcasting speeches from Lord Achriman and for spreading propaganda. It is introduced in Serious Sam 4 (and its expansion pack Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem) as a passive enemy.
Overview[]
The propaganda drone is a small, flying automonous vehicle/robot that uses two propellers to fly around. They are equipped with a loudspeaker system which they use to communicate with people and spread its messages. They have been shown to be able to hack into communication networks, such as Bill Corwin's radio channel, to communicate with people while spewing out nonsense about Lord Achriman and Mental.[1]
The logo representing Mental's Horde can be seen on the drone. On top of the drone is a hologram emitter that usually display's Mental's logo or a hologram of Lord Achriman whenever he would broadcast his speeches. Its holographic display can be seen from quite a distance.
Application[]
These drones were one of the many forms of propaganda used by Lord Achriman during the Tunguska Offensive to coerce humanity into joining them, as they were losing the war against Mental. The drone's messages and Lord Achriman's speeches were broadcast from control towers to ensure that they could spread them far and wide.[2]
Behavior and skills[]
The drone will not attack the player and has no offensive capabilites. They don't have very much health, and can be taken out with a single rocket, several shots from an assault rifle or pistol, or two blasts from the 12 Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun. When a player approaches it, the drone will start to speak, tempting humans to become processed under false pretenses of having a 'better' life than before. It will also occasionally broadcast a message from Lord Achriman.

Serious Sam 4[]
In-game, propaganda drones are quite rare and only appear one or two at a time. They are usually seen floating peacefully around various cities in the urban levels, such as Rome or Carcassonne. In the ninth level of the game, "A Breakfast in France", there is an optional side quest near the end of the level that involves going to a control tower to reprogram the drones. When Sam enters the control tower, a drone appears and tries to "apprehend" him, but as it has no power over him (since it has no weapons equipped), he taunts the drone and it then comes to the realization that he has outsmarted it in a game of wits.
If the player chooses to complete the "Droning On" side quest, all the drones in the next levels can be heard mocking Mental and Lord Achriman. A few quotes are said by Sam as well, including which he can be heard mocking Lord Achriman's British accent.
Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem[]
Compared to before, where a drone can be found on almost every level up until "Anathema Unto God", only two drones appear in the expansion pack. A propaganda drone is first seen in the level "Siberiade" near the oil wells. In the next level, a propaganda drone is seen after the tank segment. The drone briefly reminds Mental's forces about a demolition of an ancient 'non-human structure', telling them to avoid putting their important resources near the blast radius at the digsite. This leads to a side mission where the player can fight the Cryomorph Gnaar Pair.

Trivia[]
- Their name is never officially mentioned in-game, but can be found in the game's files.
- Like the Harvester Drone and Octanian Harvester Leviathan, the drone does not have a NETRICSA description.
- One of Bill Corwin's audio tapes can be found in the level "One for the Road". If the player listens to it, they can hear Bill arguing with a propaganda drone, which had managed to hack itself onto Bill's radio channel.
- According to one of the propaganda drone's quotes, for every member of Mental's Horde he kills, they have to kill 10 humans as a consequence. Whether this is true or not is not known; it's most likely just the drones bluffing.
