"Opening the Aurelian Gates" is the sixth level of Serious Sam: Next Encounter.
Plot[]
Upon reaching the Aurelian Gates, Sam finds himself in a complex full of courtyards and guard towers which he must now pass in order to gain entry to Rome. Before he can do so, however, he must first face some heavy resistance from Mentals' forces.

You are now at the Aurelian Gates. There are a series of courtyards and guard towers through which you must pass to gain entry to the City of Rome itself.
Readings indicate a heavy deployment of forces ahead. They know where you're going Sam, and they want to stop you. You know what to do.
This gate is the final barrier before we enter Rome. The mechanism by which we open it is simple. Each of the flanking towers houses a counterweight and, once inside, you should be able to find the means to lower them. When both weights are lowered the gates should open.
Through the gates, Rome awaits. And within, the answers we seek.Secrets[]
- After passing through the first gate in the level, you will come across two pedestals with statues of soldiers on them. The pedestal on the left has a button, which will bring up the "(A) Use" message. When you press the button, a few Dib Dib Dum Dums will be spawned, and the door in the central area will be opened, revealing a Super Armor.
- After activating the switch in the first tower, get on the platform that descends and turn to the left. Near the end of the trip, there will be a small alcove, so do your best to get into it. This is the only opportunity to access it, so if you miss the secret, you have to restart the level to get it.
Treasure[]
- There are 2 Treasure Bags under the ceiling above the platforms (1000 points each). To take them, you need to press the switch again when the platform goes down and rise on it.
