The Oil Elemental is an enemy exclusive to Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. It only appears as a secret.

Overview

The Oil Elemental is essentially a reskinned version of the Lava Golem covered in oil. It is not known if they have any affilation or connection towards Mental's Horde.

Appearances

The Oil Elemental is an extremely rare enemy, and only appears once, on the level Siberiade. Three of them will appear once the player has turned on all three oil wells.

Behavior and skills

The Oil Elemental behaves just like the Lava Golem. At medium to far range, it will throw a ball of oil in the direction its AI believes the player is going. These balls have a splash radius which deals minimal damage, but the projectiles themselves deal a lot more damage should the player get directly hit by one.

At closer range, the Oil Elemental will attack the player by slamming its fists down onto the ground. This deals a lot more damage than its projectiles.

Unlike the Lava Golem, it does not split into smaller copies of itself when it takes damage or dies. Instead, when killed, the Oil Elemental will spew out of a geyser of oil that contains many Extra Small Health and Extra Small Armor items that can be picked up by the player.

Tactics

• Oil Elementals are quite tough enemies. Explosive weapons are recommended to use against them.
• The XPML21 Rocket Launcher is a very effective weapon to against Elementals, especially when dual-wielded or if the player has the Multirocket upgrade.
• The 12 Gauge Pump-Action Shotgun's grenade launcher, C-4 Demolition Charge, and TCC-2 "Perun" Crossbow also work very well against single Elementals.
• Avoid their projectiles by strafing in the opposite direction of where the Elementals toss them.
• Don't get too close to an Elemental as their melee attack deals a ton of damage.

Trivia

• Unlike other enemies that appear in the game, the Oil Elemental has no C-4 icon on its body with which the player can toss C-4 onto.
