The Octanians are a species of aliens that appear in Serious Sam 4 and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem.
Biology[]
The Octanians are an intelligent humanoid species that somewhat resemble humans, but instead of skin, their bodies are covered in tentacles and suckers, similar to the ones found on an octopus.
Compared to other lifeforms found in the universe, the Octanians are unusual in that they are infected with by cyber-parasitic colonial organisms called polyps. These minute creatures form colonies that essentially act as one large organism.[1]
Unlike humans, Protopolyp-controlled Octanians cannot survive on Earth's atmosphere without proper protection. As such, the soldiers equip themselves with respirators and goggles that allow them to breath on the planet's surface.
Culture[]
The Octanians, like many other races who have aligned themselves with Mental, worship him as a deity and believe that is the cleansing flame that will purify the universe of all knowledge and intelligent species like humans.[1] As such, the Octanians and Mental formed an alliance, and formed a military organization devoted to serving him, which became known as the Cult of the Eightfold Manifestation.
Technology[]
The Octanians are an advanced race, which is unusual for Mental's ranks, as most species he has recruited are primitive in nature. They have mastered teleportation and portal technology, interstellar travel, and wield laser weapons in combat. Most of their technology is automonous in nature and requires little interference or maintenance.
Appearances[]
Very little information is known about the Octanians' background and/or history. At some point, their race was discovered by Mental, who recruited them into his ranks.
The Octanians serve as major antagonists throughout both Serious Sam 4 and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem. They have managed to estabilish a strong military presence on Earth, with help from Lord Achriman, one of Mental's servants. They were the culprits behind the Tunguska Offensive, which resulted in the creation of several portals suddenly materializing on Earth in several locations, most notably in Russia, France and Italy.[2]
