Nonna is a citizen of Rome who lives not far from the Vatican. She is a gun-toting and friendly old lady who helps out Sam during the events of Serious Sam 4. She is featured as a minor supporting character.
Biography[]
Very little information can be gathered from her early life, though she was born and raised in Italy, and has lived there for quite some time, judging by her age.
Unlike many of the other civilians living in Rome during the Tunguska Offensive, Nonna stayed to help anyone she could. When Rome was invaded by Lord Achriman and his forces, she refused to leave Rome, and chose to fight back against the alien menace.[1]

Nonna provides Sam with directions to the Vatican.
As Sam is on his way to the Vatican, he finds his way blocked by a large barrier made from tentacles. Nonna greets Sam from her home. Upon meeting her, Stone is shocked to see why an elderly woman has decided to stay behind in the city during the middle of a war. Nonna disregards his warnings and tells him that she will defend her city and fight, no matter what it takes.[2]
Nonna goes up to the balcony while Sam heads outside. She provides assistance with her minigun when hordes of Kleer Skeletons begin appearing from across the bridge. As thanks for helping her kill the aliens, she lends him her minigun. As a request, Sam asks her for directions to the Vatican, which she doesn't hesistate to provide for him.[1]
After the game credits roll, in a post-credits scene, a future version of Sam visits Nonna and gives her an opportunity to come along on a mission with him.[3]
Appearance[]
Nonna is an elderly woman of Italian descent presumed to be in her seventies or eighties. She wears a pink sweater with a green apron that has orange flowers on it, brown pants and sandals. On her head, she wears a handkerchief.
Personality and skills[]
She is a polite and kind-spirited woman, but she does have a serious side, and showed no mercy towards the aliens that invaded the city she called home, calling them "fascists".
Powers and abilities[]
Nonna helps Sam out with her minigun.
Weapon Proficiency: Despite her old age, Nonna is highly skilled with weapons such as her minigun, being able to accuractly mow down hordes of Kleer Skeletons, even from a distance, despite the minigun being a heavy weapon.[1] She is however, limited to using weapons from a safe distance, and struggles with close-range combat due to her age and frail state.

Sam Stone[]
She helped Sam out in exchange for clearing out the enemy forces on the streets of Rome outside her home, and was kind enough to point him out directions to the Vatican and lend him her minigun. She had a sort of motherly side to her, and treated him as if he was her own son.[1]
Trivia[]
- Her character model has shades when she is played in co-op or multiplayer.
- In Italian, the word 'nonna' means 'grandmother', so it is unknown if this is her real name or just an alias she uses.
- Aside from the minigun, she mentions that she also owns a rocket launcher.[1]
