The Mindspace, also known as Mentalspace, is the main setting of Serious Sam: Tormental. It is a major location featured in the game and takes place within Mental's mond.

The Mindspace is a vast and mysterious world set primarily inside Mental's mind. It is divided into many sections, each of which houses its own unique and bizarre properties that do not seem to adhere to the laws of physics.
Some of the places found here are highly reminiscent to certain biomes found on Earth and on other planets, such as Arcadia Minor or Valtos. Just like one would expect to find in a biome, each of these places is home to its own unique 'fauna' (schemas) of Mental's creation. An instance of such as place is the Sea of Thoughts, an aquatic environment where water-based schemas are created.
The Mindspace is home to a few residents, such as the Shopkeeper, the Switcher, and Skullfish. How they ended up in his mind is not fully explained or understood, although the majority of the denizens found in Mental's mind had died prior to ending up in there, as seen in their dialogue when the player interacts with them for the first time. Further evidence supporting this is the Shopkeeper's corpse, which can be found in the "Egypt" level. This makes the Mindspace - more specifically, the Frontal Lobe - function as a sort of 'afterlife' for those who Mental deems of some interest or hostility towards.[1]

Frontal Lobe[]

The only peaceful part of Mindspace and a safe haven where the souls of the deceased and other residents live and are secretly plotting with Sam and the other heroes to discover Mental's weakness and thus ultimalely use to it overthrow him.
Vault[]

A region of Mindspace that holds Mental's deepest and darkest thoughts. For this reason, it is kept highly secured with Vault Keys, which someone inside his mind can only acquire under specific circumstances.
Mental Woods[]

A forest-like environment where Mental thinks up of simplifed schemas such as Gonks, Rowteeth, Gunrillas, and Cerebulls.
Sea of Thoughts[]

A water-themed world home to aquatic and amphibious schemas like Croakueens, Helioporas, Hoppers, and Calamari.
Nightmare Caves[]

A spooky and dark environment set in a large cave system home to creatures commonly associated with phobias; spiders and snakes. it is also here when unstabls schemas can be encountered. These ghost-like schemas are almost impossible to destroy except for with explosions.
Mount Fury[]

Mount Fury.
A harsh and hot environment based on a fiery caldera, filled with pools of lava. It is here where Mental thinks up of schemas that live in such environments. Some of the schemas here are based on dinosaurs or pterodactyls and/or feature avian traits. Notable schemas here include Slamphibians, Fuminlosauruss, and the highly aggressive and dangerous Annihilodon.
Fortress[]

A deeper part of Mental's mind, where some of the more familiar schemas come into existence. Many of the ones found here are the infamous and dreaded Beheaded Kamikazes, Kleer Skeletons, Gnaars, and Major Bio-mechanoids.

The majority of the game's events revolve around the Mindspace, and becomes the game's main setting after completing the tutorial. It is here where Serious Sam's consciousness is transferred into it via the Mentaloptican after he seemingly destroyed the artifact.[2]
After Sam acquires the Horned Key and makes it into the Vault, here is where he engages in conversation with his own archnemesis, Mental himself. The two engage in a rather antagonistic conversation, and while Mental admits he is rather surprised to see his adversary inside his own mind, he arrogantly believes that Sam will accomplish nothing while being in the Mindspace, and that any attempt he tries to make to find Mental's weaknesses and exploiting them will be in vain from his perspective.[3]
