Long, Hard Road is the seventeenth level of Serious Sam: Double D, and the twenty-first level of Serious Sam: Double D: XXL.
Plot[]
Sam finally makes it out of Mount Vesuvius, where he is greeted by General Maxilla, a servant of Mental who is responsible for sending Mental's forces at Sam in order to kill him. He taunts Sam for a while and demands that he hurries up with whatever he's doing so he can watch a TV show that he likes. NETRICSA is not impressed with this, and tries to get Sam to understand the seriousness of their situation. Maxilla disappears and so Sam must catch up with him.
Secrets[]
- As soon as you exit the first underground area, go deep to the left. There, reaching the farthest wall, jump into the ceiling. There is an invisible tunnel that will lead you straight to a secret 12 Gauge Shotgun.
- After the first secret, go to the right and continue forwards. Before the first climb up the wooden beams, it is important to go down below. There is a secret XL4 Lasergun there.

- The XXL version of this level uses the Oasis peace theme and the Valley of the Kings fight theme. The original version instead uses original music.
