The Life Control Unit is a device that appears in the Serious Sam series.

Overview

The life control unit is an electronic device that was created by Mental. It is implanted in infantry that have been resurrected with Mental's cyber-zombie technology.

Function

Rocketeer SS3 NETRICSA

The device augments the brain and controls most high-level functions of the central nervous system. With beheaded Sirian troops, the life control unit replaces the functionality of the upper part of the nervous system, essentially acting as a 'brain'. The device is also equipped with a vocal synthesizer and crude sensory modules. Appearance-wise, the life control unit is implanted on the neck or the head with one or more red mechanical 'eyes'. These eyes allow the user to see in dark or foggy conditions.

Limitations

Despite being used on those who have been bought back from the dead, the life control unit does not allow the user to have free will or control over the device, nor does it grant the user intelligence. As it is of Mental's creation, the user is only capable of obeying orders from Mental's headquarters and blindly seeking out their targets.

Appearances

In most games it appears in, the life control unit is not seen but only mentioned by NETRICSA. It is first actually seen in Serious Sam 3: BFE on Beheaded Kamikazes, Beheaded Rocketeers and Cloned Soldiers.
