The Jormungandr is an enemy that appears in Serious Sam: Tormental.

Overview[]

The Jormungandr is a long, green snake-like creature that consists of many segments and a head featuring an angry expression. Like other enemies, its eye follows the player when either they or the creature move around the room.

The Jormungandr schema is based on the Hum-Tah's fascination with large snake-like creatures that are found throughout the galaxy. Interestingly, while the schema of the serpent that appears in Mental's mind is relatively smaller than the originals, the real world projections were nothing less than enormous, resulting in the golden dragon experiment on the planet Shaanti, or the Metal Snakes on the planet Arcadia Minor.[1]

Appearances[]

They only appear in "Nightmare Caves" along with the Mentalgandr. The elite variant has a chance to spawn in "Nightmare Caves V2".

Behavior and skills[]

The Jormungandr's primary attack is to try to constrict the target with its long body and then taking a bite. When a segment of the Jormungandr's body has been destroyed, another segment will turn into a head, join together with some of the other segments and form another Jormungandr.

Tactics[]

  • When dealing with a Jormungandr, destroy as many of its body segments as possible to reduce the chances of it gaining another head.
  • Jormungandrs aren't very tough enemies, so they can be killed easily with an upgraded version of the Gun, the Multi-crossbow, Shotgun, or other serious weapons.

Trivia[]

  • The name of this enemy is a reference to a sea serpent featured in Norse mythology.
