The Infected Flower is an enemy that appears in Serious Sam's Bogus Detour.

Overview[]

Infected Flowers were once ordinary carnivorous plants until they became exposed to pools of ooze used by the Orcs. After being exposed, the plants mutated in and became more ferocious, feeding on larger prey such as humans.[1]

Appearances[]

Infected Flowers are very rare enemies, only appearing sparingly in a few levels, especially the ones set in Turkey, such as Path of Feast/Fear. Occasionally, they may be seen blocking a path, and the only way to move forward is to kill them. They mostly appear alone, but several of them can sometimes be seen at once.

Behavior and skills[]

Unlike other enemies, Infected Flowers cannot move and remain stationary. Upon noticing an enemy, it will fire spikes at the target. These spikes can travel far distances and over ledges, making them dangerous if they hit the player.

Tactics[]

  • Avoid the Flower's spikes by sidestepping or strafing, as they only travel in the direction they are fired.
  • For obvious reasons, the player should not get too close to the Flower, as this will leave the player vulnerable to their spike attack.
  • The Laser Cannon, Shotgun, Thompson submachine gun, XM214-A Minigun or XPML21 Rocket Launcher are effective weapons against Infected Flowers.
  • Melee weapons are not recommended to be used against Infected Flowers.
  • In comparison with other enemies, Infected Flowers are low to medium-priority targets. This largely depends on several factors, like the game difficulty, the distance between them and the player, or if they are blocking a path that the player needs to traverse to access the next part of the level.

Trivia[]

  • The Infected Flowers uses the same sounds as the Lizard when firing its spikes, and the Aurigan Cave Demon's death sound when it dies.
