"A сука called Brand has betrayed humanity and flies towards Tunguska. If you notice a plane with Triple-A signs on it, shoot on sight, I repeat, shoot on sight!"
Ledov's radio broadcast regarding Brand's plane[src]

Howard Brand's plane is a fixed-wing military transport aircraft used by the Alien Artifact Acquisition and the Earth Defense Force which saw use during the Tunguska Offensive.

Overview[]

Brand's plane was a large, four-engine, turboprop military transport aircraft that was similar to the Lockheed C-130 Hercules in both appearance and design. It was quite a fast plane, as demonstrated by its speed, thus it served as a useful form of long-range transportation for Earth Defense Force soldiers and Triple-A personnel. It was primarily used for carrying and transporting cargo and passengers. Occasionally it was also used for transferring prisoners.[1]

Owing to its name, the aircraft also served as EDF general Howard Brand's main form of air transport.[1][2]

Appearances[]

Serious Sam 4[]

Sam awakens to find himself on Brand's plane, having recovered from two tranquilizer trips. One of Brand's men, who he believes is still under the effects of the sedative, prepares to move Sam. Little does the soldier know, however, is that Sam is wide awake and only feigning to be knocked out. Sam uses this moment of surprise to attack the soldier and stab him in between his eyes with the syringe.[1] He frees himself from his restraints, grabs a parachute and prepares to jump out of the plane. General Brand arrives and orders his men to stop shooting Stone, since he wants the latter alive. Brand convinces Sam to stay, telling him that his team have been processed and the war is over. He convinces him further under false pretenses that his life will be better as Mental's 'pet' than if he stays on Earth.[1]

Sam doesn't believe a word General Brand says, seeing that he is a traitor. Sam decides to jump out out of the airlock, but, surprisngly, Brand doesn't attempt to stop him. Instead, he is rather disappointed with the outcome of the situation. Sam lands somewhere in the Arctic Ocean near an oil platform, while Brand's plane heads for the giant portal in Tunguska.[1]

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem[]

Brand's plane is mentioned by Russian partisan leader Igor Ledov on a radio broadcast. Sam picks up the broadcast as he heads into the communications tower at the Thunderbird Oil Refinery. Ledov can be heard stating that if anyone sees a plane with the Triple-A sign on it, they are to shoot it down immediately.[3]

As Sam makes it out of the refinery, Russian EDF soldiers can be heard mentioning Brand's plane. One of the soldiers reports to other squads that Brand's plane has just landed to refuel, and is expected to take off very soon.[2] As Sam escapes from the refinery via snowmobile, Brand's plane can be seen flying through the Siberian wilderness on its way to Tunguska. An anti-aircraft gunner notifies his squad that the plane is in his sights. He has a lock and is about to shoot it down, when suddenly, one of its engines is shot, causing it to explode, which surprises the gunner, seeing as he didn't even shoot it. The plane crash lands in the wilderness and explodes, taking Brand down with it, although he survives the crash.[2][4]

Later on, as Sam meets up with One-Eyed Olga, she reveals that she was reponsible for shooting down Brand's plane, which she had achieved with a sniper rifle from a significant distance away.[2]

Trivia[]

  • No model for the plane exists in Serious Sam 4, as only the exterior is seen during the opening cutscene used for the level, "The Package". The plane does gain a model in Siberian Mayhem, though.
  • Like other vehicles used the Triple-A, the plane has the latter's logos featured on the sides, most notably on the vertical stabilizer.
