The Gunrilla is an enemy that appears in Serious Sam Advance in the Ancient Rome levels.

Overview

Gunrillas in the mists, you wouldn't want to see this Sirian Mutant any closer than necessary, preferably with a big telescope on another planet. A large calibre projectile weapon grafted onto the head of a mutant earth gorilla have created this fearsome beast, which has the capability of tearing Sam's head right off.

Gunrillas don't move that fast and like to stay at a distance when firing, however if they do get close then they can explode their internally stored rockets and do the same amount of damage as a Beheaded Kamikaze.

The Gunrilla is a mutant creature with a mixture of Sirian and gorilla DNA.

Behavior and skills

The Gunrilla is a rather slow but powerful foe that can endure a lot of damage. When it notices the target, it will fire a cannonball at them. At closer range, it will perform a melee attack.

Its head that has been replaced with a gun, and it fires cannonballs, which can explode it close range. However, all of this comes with a price; the Gunrilla is fairly slow, making it easy to avoid.

Tactics

• Powerful weapons such as the minigun, rocket launcher or Time Strike are needed to kill a Gunrilla. It has a lot of health and its projectiles are quite deadly, so the player needs to use powerful weapons in order to kill one in a good amount of time.
• Multiple Gunrillas require either the XM214-A Minigun or the XPML21 Rocket Launcher to deal with them. The minigun's rate of fire is fast enough that it can deal a lot of damage to multiple Gunrillas, while several rockets to a pack of Gunrillas can kill multiple ones because of the damage that an exploding rocket can do to nearby enemies. Other weapons are too weak to kill multiple Gunrillas before they flood the player with projectiles.
• When paired with other enemies, the Gunrilla is a high-priority threat. Its projectiles can do a lot of damage per projectile, and it can absorb a lot of damage before dying. Eliminating it as soon as possible will make it much easier to kill other enemies.
