The Gunrilla is an enemy that appears in Serious Sam: Tormental.
Overview[]
The Gunrilla is a creature based on the Gonk schema, but is more bulbous and tougher, but incredibly slow. They back up their greater size with thicker hide and higher firepower. There are two types of Gunrilla, normal and elite.
Appearances[]
Gunrillas only appear in Mental Woods. They are usually spawned with Cerebulls, Gonks and Lizards, and often appear one or two at a time. The elite Gunrilla is much rarer, but has a high chance to spawn in Mental Woods V2 and Mental Woods V3.
Behavior and skills[]
Unflinching, the Gunrilla willl focus on a target without letting up, and begin charging a burst-fire blast from what would appear to be their mouths. These blasts are incredibly sluggish, however they have the potential to cover escape routes from excess enemy fire during a skirmish. By increasing its size and magical ability, it's able to withstand more punishment while also becoming more dangerous with multiple projectiles. However, it seems somewhere along the way Mental forgot that merely increasing a creature's size doesn't exactly make it faster, and with the increased magical capacity it has to burrow its feet into the ground or risk being blasted back by its slow shots.[1]
The elite Gunrilla is much tougher than the normal Gunrilla and fires nine projectiles instead of three in one burst.
Like other big enemies, the Gunrilla will begin flashing yellow when most of its health has been depleted, allowing the player to perform a brutal kill on it. When set on fire, the Gunrilla will fire twice as fast than usual.
Tactics[]
- Due to its high health, strong weapons like the Rocket or Shotgun are needed to finish off the Gunrilla quickly.
- On their own Gunrillas are easy pickings, however when backed up by a group of Gonks or an assortment of other enemies, they become much more dangerous.
- With upgrades, the Pistol can be useful for taking out multiple Gunrillas at a time.
- Its projectiles can deal a lot of damage, so steer clear of them as much as possible.
- The elite Gunrilla can become very dangerous, so the player should focus their firepower on it first before targeting other enemies. As these variants have a lot of health, strong or explosive weapons are needed.
