Tetrachoke The Wizard was a large Aludran Reptiloid and a skilled sorcerer with stronger magical abilities than that of his smaller kin. He serves as the third boss of Serious Sam's Bogus Detour and acts as a major antagonist.

Overview[]

Tetrachoke was once a regular Common Aludran Reptiloid the day he and others were selected by Mental, in exchange for magical powers. For some reason, he grew larger and became par on his relatives, the Highlander and Highlander's Bride Reptiloids.[1]

Appearances[]

Serious Sam's Bogus Detour[]

Tetrachoke is fought at the end of the level, The Cradle of Democracy, where he serves as that chapter's boss.

After Tetrachoke has been defeated, the Juvenile Antaresian Spider that holds up the final piece of the green keycard will appear, allowing the player to get the complete keycard which can be used to unlock the doors to the portal.

Behavior and skills[]

Tetrachoke had the ability to control the objects in his environment. Like regular Reptiloids, he was able to cast homing energy balls at the target, though these ones could not be shot down. He could also cast multiple energy balls that do not home in on the player. After half of his health has been depleted, he starts using telekinetic powers and uses the objects around him as projectiles. He also becomes immune to damage while using telekinesis. After a certain amount of time passes, Antaresian Spiders will climb up from the abyss. When he is almost killed, he will start summoning smaller versions of his second attack.

Tactics[]

  • Tetrachoke is one of the hardest bosses in the game due to his high health and the damage his projectiles deal.
  • Strong and rapid-fire weapons such as the A-24 Devastator, Erasergun, SBC Cannon, XM214-A Minigun and XPML21 Rocket Launcher are recommended to use against him, as they can all deplete his health quickly.
  • The Antaresian Spiders can be easily defeated with the Laser Cannon or XOP Flamethrower. The Oozegun is also effective against the Spiders if the player has found it, as the weapon slows down the spiders and also damages them over time, which can give the player more time to focus on Tetrachoke.
  • His homing energy balls can be difficult to dodge, due to their high homing property and the damage they deal. The energy balls can be dodged by dashing onto the opposite direction, or by coming close to a wall and dashing away before the energy ball hits it.
  • The multiple energy balls have some space between them, which can give the player enough time to dodge them.
  • When Tetrachoke starts using his telekinesis to throw objects, the player should dash and strafe around him to dodge the projectiles until he has finished his attack.

Powers and abilities[]

  • Immense Durability and Endurance: Tetrachoke was highly durable and could sustain an extreme amount of damage, unlike his smaller Common Aludran Reptiloid brethen. Additionally, this made him a formidable opponent for Sam to deal with. It has been said that Tetrachoke is on par with his stronger species, the Highlander Aludran Reptiloids, in terms of strength and durability.[1]
  • Telekinesis: Tetrachoke was a powerful telepath capable of manipulating and controlling objects in his environment. He was able to cause objects to levitate and use them as projectiles to throw at his opponent. He was able to pick up many objects at once using his powers.
  • Skilled Magical Powers: Unlike his smaller brethen, Tetrachoke's magical abilities were far more superior. He was able to summon multiple fireballs at once at his opponents. Unlike the fireballs casted by normal Reptiloids, Tetrachoke's could not be destroyed.
