Extra Large Health (Mega Heart in Serious Sam: Double D) is a healing item that appears in the Serious Sam series.

Overview[]

Extra large health is a healing item that gives the player the highest amount of health points out of any healing item in the series. When picked up, extra large health always gives the player 100 health points, though in Serious Sam: Xbox and Serious Sam: Next Encounter on higher difficulties, the player's health will decrease by 1 HP per second after picking up extra large health. Thus, strategy is required before grabbing extra large health.

Health pickups that appear in Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope use the extra large health model from Serious Sam HD, but they only provide a random amount of health rather than 100.

Appearances[]

Extra large health is the rarest healing item in the series, though it can be found occasionally. It is usually found in secret areas such as in "Tomb of Ramses III", which holds two extra large health items, both as secrets. Sometimes, it is found usually during or before a large battle. Otherwise, it mostly triggers traps, such as a lot of Kleer Skeletons or Scythian Witch-Harpies rushing at the player.

In Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope, this item is dropped from the sky via parachute, which can be caught and dragged by the player towards them to replenish some of their health.

The appearance of this item varies between games:
- In Serious Sam 1, Serious Sam: Next Encounter, Serious Sam HD, Serious Sam: Double D, and Serious Sam VR: The Last Hope, it is a large floating heart.
- In Serious Sam 2, it is a grey floating heart with a red cross on it.
- In Serious Sam 3: BFE, it is a large pack of medical supplies with a camo pattern.
- In Serious Sam 4 and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem, it is a case filled with medical supplies consisting of objects and tools like scissors, blood transfusion bags, pills, and bandages.
