The Erasergun is an energy weapon introduced in Serious Sam's Bogus Detour.
Overview[]
This weapon was originally developed by the navy to be fitted onto large warships, the railgun was known as "the first real hitscan weapon". A portable version was soon made, and colloquially referred to as the "Erasergun", which fires supersonic DU-bolts.[1]
Whenever the fire key is pressed, the Erasergun fires a supersonic beam of energy, which can travel far distances. These beams deal a lot of damage to anything that comes into contact with the weapon's beam. These beams are capable of blasting through several opponents in a row.
Appearances[]
The Erasergun first appears in the later levels of the game, such as The Cradle of Democracy and the Moon base levels. It can be found earlier in Path of Feast/Fear as a secret. As it is a very powerful weapon, ammunition is not very common, though it appears quite frequently in later levels.
Tactics[]
- Thanks to its tearing ability and high damage output, the Erasergun can effectively wipe out large groups of weak enemies, and deal a lot of damage to tougher opponents.
- A strong weapon against Infected Flowers, Major Bio-mechanoids, Scrapjacks, Sirian Werebulls and Towers, but it is ineffective against single weak enemies.
- It is best to use the Erasergun against small groups of enemies, as its slow rate of fire can make the player vulnerable when being swarmed.
Trivia[]
- The Erasergun is based off from the Railgun from the Quake series, with the exact same behavior and a very similar model to the Quake II and Quake III Arena iterations.
