"Death from Below" is the second level of Serious Sam 4.
Plot[]
Sam and Kenny have found Father Mikhail, and must now proceed to the Piazza della Repubblica, which is where Hellfire will extract them and the rest of the Triple-A team from. The original plan was to escort Father Mikhail to the Vatican Library, but with the Octanian Raider fleet dominating the airspace over Rome, Sam, Kenny and Father Mikhail must now take shelter as they deal with Lord Achriman's forces in the winding streets below.
Data[]
You found Father Mikhail, but with so many Octanian Raiders in the sky, you can't proceed to the Vatican Library. Make your way to the Piazza della Repubblica and meet up with Jones and Rodriguez. If all goes well, Carter and Hellfire will pick you up there. It won't, of course.
Side objectives[]
"We can be Heroes"[]
About halfway through the level, Father Mikhail will inform Sam about people needing help fighting Mental's forces on the rooftop above. If the player chooses to help fend off the enemies, Paolo, one of the Italian Resistance fighters, will lend Sam the M29 Infantry Assault Rifle.
Secrets[]
- When you get to the dead end with the black van, climb the van, then jump on the little ledge on the left. Climb the balcony, then the little transformer, which will allow you to jump onto the AC unit. From there, you can jump onto the beam, then the windowsill. From there, you can jump to the open window and crawl inside to find a secret depot contaning health, armor and a L.I.F.E. gadget.
- This secret is very close to the first one, and it can also be found before the cutscene at the burning truck. There will be two cars by the building on your right, as you watch the fire. Jump onto the roof of one, then jump onto the air conditioning unit on the wall. This will allow you to reach the balcony, which is where the secret health is hidden. Picking up the health will spawn lots of pill bottles.
- The next secret comes right before you reach the burning truck and trigger a cutscene. On your left, you'll notice what looks like a kiosk with shutters pulled down. If you go behind it, you can climb onto the grey telephone box, then jump onto the roof of the kiosk. You will find an armor shard there. Picking the armor up will spawn many armor shards.
- In the area where you can hear an Octanian Commander lecturing some Octanian Gamma Troopers, deal with them, then climb onto the crates by the fence. Jump onto one of the fence posts, then up on the balcony to find an ammo depot.
- You need to get to the rooftop and complete the 'We Can Be Heroes' side objective. After the final battle on the big rooftop, look towards the red building that connects to it. Approach the parapet on the right and look across the street – you'll see another, smaller balcony. You need to jump onto it to reach a L.I.F.E. gadget.
- This secret isn't hard to reach. When you reach the soccer field, look for a tiny lot with a mesh fence, between the garages. There's a soccer ball there. Push it into either goal by shooting it. A bunch of fireworks will go off, and a rain of health kits will shower the field.
- You can find the last secret as soon as you reach the rooftops. Follow the path left, and turn around as soon as you pass the first building. Jump onto the windowsill on the left, then the ledge on the right. This will allow you to climb onto the roof, and then the long, narrow terrace. Follow it to the end, jump over the parapet and look left. You will see a balcony on the building you came from, filled with armor, ammo and health.
S.A.M. locations[]
- One is obtained during the cutscene that introduces the Sirian Artefacts of Might system near the remains of the destroyed truck.

Trivia[]
- The name of this level may be a reference to fighting the Saggitarian Sidewinder, which is first seen bursting out of the ground.
- The football secret is a reference to soccer, which is the most popular sport in Croatia.
- If the player chooses to repeatedly jump off the rooftop in the area of the "We can Be heroes" side quest, eventually, they will die and have no choice but to revert back to the last saved game. Additionally, Elohim, one of the main characters from The Talos Principle (another Croteam game), can be heard saying "So be it. Let your will be done".
- These are his final words when the player chooses to transcend to obtain the "Free Will" ending in The Talos Principle.
- Another reference to Elohim can be found in the form of a selectable player model named Elohim's son.
- Portions of these map (in the area where the player first encounters the Aurigan Haemovore) is used for the survival map "Backyard".
- Father Mikhail apologizing to Sam about him nearly making a "Stairway to Heaven" joke is a reference to a line from the 1992 American comedy film Wanye's World.
