The Car is a vehicle that appears in Serious Sam 3: BFE and Serious Sam 3 VR: BFE. It cannot be used or controlled by the player.

Overview[]

The car is a typical four-door grey sedan. The vehicle has been neglected for sometime, as seen by the rusty and worn parts. Other parts of the car appear to be missing or had fallen off at some point. Despite this, the vehicle still works. Unlike the vehicles that appear in other Serious Sam games, such as Serious Sam 2, Serious Sam 4 and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem, the player cannot drive the car, as it is scripted to be used for cutscenes.

Sam first uses the car to escape from Cairo to get to the Great Pyramid.[1][2] He leaves the car behind while he ventures on foot towards the Great Pyramid to find the alleged secret chamber that Quinn instructed him to find.

Later on, the car appears in a slum outside Ramesseum, where he has to fill it up with 9 gas canisters scattered around the area before he can get to the Time-Lock. Mental, of course, sends in his forces to prevent Sam from reaching his destination. Once Sam has cleared the area and the car is filled up and ready to go, Sam enters the car and drives to the Time-Lock's location.[3]

Eventually, after driving in the desert for sometime, Sam's car runs out of gas just before a Sandwhale approaches.[4] At this point, he is forced to abandon his car and run. The car is devoured by the Sandwhale shortly after Sam gets to the canyon.

Trivia[]

  • According to Sam's quote when he enters the car, it was made in Detroit, though the license plate reads that it was originally from Texas.[3] It's possible that the steel parts for the car were from Detroit, though they were imported to Texas.
  • The car appears to be modeled after a Peugeot 406, which originates from France and would be contrary to Sam's description of the car being from Detroit, Michigan.
    • Of note is that the Peugeot 406 was never officially produced in North America, only having been produced in France (1995-2004), Egypt (1996-2008), and Italy (1997-2005), the latter where it was produced as a two-door coupé.
  • The car's rear license plate reads "SAM 4 3VR".
