The Brainstorm is the second boss of Serious Sam: Tormental, serving as the boss of the second level of the game, "Sea of Thoughts". It also serves as a minor antagonist.
Overview[]
The Brainstorm is an entity that consists of many different ideas and different parts orbiting a core which holds it all together. The core appears as a black horned creature with a single eye.
The Brainstorm's body parts have different roles, such as turrets that attack enemies and shields that try to protect the core, while the rest are just regular body parts.
The Brainstorm is less of a creature or a schema, and not exactly a single thought either. It is a storm of many different random ideas trying to come together to form a new idea inside out of Mental's mind. To put it simple, Mental is literally having a brainstorm in his mind, trying to come up with a new and deadly foe.[1]

The Brainstorm is fought at the end of "Sea of Thoughts". As the player loops through iterations, this boss becomes increasingly more difficult as it begins deploying water mines and overwhelming the player with its multiple turrets.
Behavior and skills[]
During the fight, the Brainstorm will assume a random shape made from its body parts; the turrets are spawned on the outer parts of its body while the green body parts protect the core. The turrets will all fire at the player during the fight. If the Brainstorm's core is exposed, the Brainstorm's body parts will be destroyed and it will quickly form new body parts and take a different shape. When its health has been further depleted, its body will form additional turrets and a few shields will appear that surround the core. The shields cannot be destroyed.
In the second Iteration, Brainstorm V2 will appear which behaves just like the normal Brainstorm, but it creates more shields and has black body parts that fire underwater mines at the player. It also has a lot more health than before, which can make fighting this version of the boss much more challenging.
Tactics[]
- To defeat this boss, the player has to destroy the Brainstorm's turrets and body parts as quickly as possible to expose its core. Shooting at the core will deplete its health very quickly if the player is accurate enough.
- The Serious Bomb is the ultimate weapon to use on the Brainstorm. The explosion will destroy any of its body parts and deplete a large portion of its health.
- The best weapons to use against the Brainstorm are weapons with piercing properties, have a high rate of fire, or fire explosive projectiles. The Grenade Launcher and Rocket work well to destroy most of its body parts and expose the core, while rapid-firing weapons like the Machinegun can quickly cut through the body parts to its core.
- It is helpful to have a few Ankh Potions in case the player is killed by the Brainstorm's turrets.
- Buddies can come in handy during the fight. Buddy spiky can help deal damage to the Brainstorm while the buddy decoys can distract it as the player damages it.
- The projectiles fired from the Brainstorm's turrets are very dangerous. These turrets will fire them in all directions, so avoid them as much as possible.
- This boss is much easier to defeat if the player is playing as Bomb; his remote detonate ability is extremely useful, as the Brainstorm's cubes and turrets have a high chance to drop bombs, which can be detonated right next to the Brainstorm and deal lots of damage to it.
