Bill Corwin is a radio broadcaster who works for Radio Free Earth, a news channel that informs people of the latest updates surrounding ongoing events. He is introduced as an unseen minor character who appears in Serious Sam 4, who tells pivotal details relating to events that take place throughout the game's campaign.

Biography

Not very much is known about Bill's early life. During his childhood, school life wasn't easy for him, as he was subjected to bullying for being shorter than his peers. A bully at his school, who goes by the name of Jerry Duberman, used to beat up him because of this. Bill retilated by using his short height to his advantage by being in a good enough position to punch Jerry in the crotch.

Later in his life, he became a radio broadcaster for Radio Free Earth, and broadcasted on his channel on regular intervals about ongoing events in the world.

Appearances

Serious Sam 4

Bill is first heard in the game's opening intro, discussing the latest events concerning the Tunguska Offensive. He reports that Earth Defense Force troops are being pushed further back towards Irkutsk, and four weeks have passed since Mental's forces have occupied France, with reports of local resistance cells re-establishing contact with the EDF.

Multiple radios can be found throughout the campaign, with one appearing on pretty much every level, that will tune in automatically to Bill's station whenever the player walks by one. The player can listen to these broadcasts, and Bill will update his listeners to events that occur during the game, such as Lord Achriman facing opposition from the resistance forces in France, the Battle of Paris, the aftermath of the HAARP Mission, and so on. Audio tapes can also be found in some levels, which are recordings of Bill interviewing some of the characters that appear in the game. The player can pick up these tapes and listen to them at anytime by invoking NETRICSA and going to the "Dossiers" tab.

Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem

Bill is absent from the expansion pack, but he is mentioned by NETRICSA if one views Ledov's description in the "Dossiers" tab.

Appearance

It is unknown what Bill looks like, since he does not make any in-game appearances. Based on his voice, it can be assumed he is a young Caucasian man in his early to mid thirties. He has an American accent.

Personality and skills

Bill works at Radio Free Earth as a radio broadcaster and propagandist. He likes to inform people, such as civilians, soldiers and resistance fighters alike, of the ongoing events concerning things like the Tunguska Offensive.

As heard throughout his broadcasts, Bill takes his role as a radio broadcaster seriously, and believes it is important to let people be aware of what is going on around them, as well as throughout the world.

Bill harbors a deep hatred for Lord Achriman, seeing as he was in charge of the invasion of Earth and responsible for all the turmoil and mass chaos that he had caused all around the world. Bill can be heard mocking Achriman several times throughout the campaign, deeming him a bully, teasing him in a condescending tone that the war in Europe is not turning out as successful as the latter had initially hoped, and mocking Achriman's morals, beliefs, mirroring what Achriman saw in the human race.

Mental

Just like with Lord Achriman, Bill cannot stand Mental, and believes that humanity are a lot more than what Mental sees in them. Bill states that humans are a species that are not to be underestimated. He is not intimidated by Mental, nor does he believe that humans will lose to him. In the final level of the game, if one listens to his broadcast, he can be heared loudly boasting that Earth is "one hell of a badass planet".

Mental is well aware of how much a threat Bill is to his empire. So much, in fact, that Bill is listed as #1 on Lord Achriman's Most Wanted Earth Propagandists list.

Daniel Carter

At some point, Bill had a rather 'interesting' discussion with Carter on his channel, as heard by an audio log found in the level "Vive la Résistance". Upon hearing Carter rambling on about his strange conspiracy theories regarding television and "Moon Spiders", Bill was left quite uncomfortable by his theories. So much in fact, that he decided to have someone on his channel block his number so Carter couldn't contact him again.

Trivia

• Bill's voice actor, Brad Venable, passed away on January 8, 2021.
  • This was the most likely reason Bill didn't make any further appearances after his debut in Serious Sam 4.
• On one of Bill's audio logs, a propaganda drone can be heard talking to Bill on his channel, indicating that it was able to hack into his network. Bill can be heard becoming increasingly frustrated and arguing with the drone.
• His role is very similar to George B. Gnaar, a news reporter who details the events that transpire throughout Serious Sam 2.
