Bad Bulb is one of the five playable characters introduced in Serious Sam: Tormental. He appears as a major supporting character.

Biography

Bad Bulb was once part of a dying civilization that attempted to create robotic life, but instead accidentally produced a race of sentient life bulbs. After a short period of enlightenment, Mental discovered this species and destroyed them, rendering the species extinct. After their demise, a partial copy of Bad Bulb came to exist in Mental's mind, which is the only remnant of his once-proud people.

Like the other three characters, Bomb, NETRICSA, and Ugh-Zan Jr., Bad Bulb has to be rescued inside Mental's mind, where he is locked within a prison cell in "Nightmare Caves". It costs 9 keys to unlock his cell. When Bad Bulb has been rescued, the player can switch to play as him anytime they wish in the Frontal Lobe, though sometimes he can be switched later on if he appears.

Personality and skills

Being based on a robotic lifeform, Bulb likes to make electronic sounds. He is much more mute than the other characters, though this could be because he is unlikely to speak, instead preferring to just say "Bzzzt!".

Powers and abilities

Electrocution: Being an artificial lifeform, Bad Bulb needs electricity to survive. Moving around and attacking enemies uses up his life force (as indicated by his HP). To replenish his lost energy, he has the ability to electrocute enemies and damage them in a wide area with his energy gun, but he has to get close to them to be able to use it. This attack deals very rapid damage to the target and has the potential to shock any enemies near it, which can be useful for taking out multiple enemies at once. Bulb's HP can be refilled by collecting figments that are dropped from enemies upon their defeat. Weapons: Bad Bulb doesn't use the regular Gun like the other characters do, but is instead equipped with a variant of the gun called The Energy Gun which he uses to attack enemies. He is also equipped with a weaker version of the Sledgehammer, which is called "Melee Bulb".

Appearance

Bulb appears as a sentient white light bulb with a single blue eye with an angry expression and a mouth with a jagged edge which are believed to resemble teeth.
