Having escaped from General Brand's transport plane and secured a boat from an oil platform in the middle of the Arctic Circle, Sam lands ashore somewhere on the Russian coast. His next objective is to find a way to the portal in Tunguska to stop Brand from handing over the 'False Grail' to Mental.
Without a clue where he is, Sam notices an oil refinery in the distance. His best bet now is to head there and see if he figure out how to get to the Tunguska portal.
Leaving the oil rig, you sailed towards the mainland, hoping to join the Tunguska Offensive and stop General Brand. You've arrived somewhere on the Russian coastline without any idea where you are or where to go. Only a large oil refinery can be seen in the distance.
Side objectives[]
"Black Gold"[]
If the player follows the path to the second oil rig right after the previous one, they will encounter a couple of enemies attempting to guard the oil rig. Succeeding the fight will award the player with a case containing a S.A.M egg, which will give the player one skill point.
S.A.M. locations[]
In the second oil rig as a reward for completing the "Black Gold" side quest.
In the refinery complex, at the locked door to the bridge leading to the AK-74MX.
In the jump pad room.
Secrets[]
After killing the female Gnaar(s) at spawn, go directly to the far right corner where the pipes and fences are located and inside the trash pile to find some shells.
Following along the main path, between the land rig, there are paths. Go directly to the right path and keep going right until you find a C-4 Demolition Charge.
Following the path to the 2nd oil rig side objective, there is a path ahead that leads to two intersections. Following the path to the left will lead to a wooden bridge near the river. On the bridge contains a Medium Armor. Picking the armor up will spawn a Sirian Werebull behind you. When it appears, don't kill it; just sidestep and let it fall off to its death. Beware that a second Werebull will appear when playing on New Game+ or beyond - on New Game+, the player can kill the spawning Werebulls with the TCC-2 "Perun" Crossbow or SBC Cannon.
After #6, proceed north past the wooden house and keep going until you make your way to a large tree. Pick up the health pill to trigger a secret trap that will spawn two Major Bio-mechanoids.
To the north-east of the second oil rig, there is a small wooden house in the open. Behind the house contains some rockets.
Following the path to the comm-tower, after the sequence where three Gnaars break out of a fan, go straight ahead and there is a ladder leaning against the wall. Pick up the ladder and place it at the same place where the Gnaars broke out of. Go up the ladder and head inside the fan and you can jump down into a "looped" portal that will eventually lead you to a L.I.F.E. gadget. Hop over the truck to return to where you started.
From secret #11, keep following the train tracks until you reach a dead end. To the right side, there is a opening behind. Go behind the wall and you'll find a secret depot containing ammo and a medium armor.
To the right of secret #15, to the far right by the fence, there is a couple of wooden boxes. Destroying them with any explosives will reveal a brick wall with a C-4 highlighter. Throw a C-4 at the spot and blow up the brick wall. Inside, there is a teleporter that takes you to a secret "classic" area that is reused from the Tommygun arena in Valley of the Kings from Serious Sam: The First Encounter. Note that it is possible to softlock yourself if you're at max health and you cannot pickup the Extra Large Health that spawns. If this happens, either damage yourself with explosive weapons or have the final Kleer Skeletons damage you before you kill them.
Major Bio-mechanoids, Sirian Werebulls, and a Draconian Burner now appear as normal enemies.
Two large ammo boxes can be found: one in the control room before the arena with Aludran Microhoppers and Kleers, and another one before the final arena.
Starting from New Game+3, the FRPCL is found at the start of the level in a container surrounded by Gnaars. Ammo for it is also found throughout the game from that point forward.
On the right at the very start of the level, after jumping over the pipes where the first secret is located, the player can find a baby doll lying on the ground. Interacting with it causes black strands to descend from the sky and an inverted rainbow to appear. This is a reference to Death Stranding, a 2019 action-adventure game.
The seagulls that appear in the level are interactable and can be shot and killed if the player wishes to do so. Killing a particular seagull near the start of the level causes Scythian Witch-Harpies to spawn.
The Selected Works of Straton of Stageira by "Worsewords Classics" can be found in the refinery's control room. This is a reference to Croteam's other game, The Talos Principle, as Straton is a fictional ancient Greek philosopher referenced in the game who creates the titular principle and is later expanded on in the 2023 sequel, The Talos Principle 2.
The book's compiler, Athanasios Kyratzes, was also the writer and narrator for a fictional documentary about Straton, as part of a small ARG surrounding the game with a blog named for the philosopher].[1][2]
The name itself was in reference to the game's writer, Jonas Kyratzes.
