"A Chilly Reception" is the thirtieth level of Serious Sam: Next Encounter.

Plot

Following the previous events with Sam succeeding in defeating the Subterranean Emperor Hydra with the Palace of Heavenly Purity, he enters the Time-Lock in the Forbidden City and finds himself in a desolate, snow-covered island in the middle of nowhere. However, he is not stranded; NETRICSA surmises that they are, in fact, on the legendary continent of Atlantis, and that there is a tower-like structure which is being powered by a geothermal vent. Front the data she has analysed, she advises Sam to check it out.

• Description

Brr, it's cold. I've run analysis of the surrounding area and found some surprising data:

1. We are on an isolated island in the middle of an immense ice floe.
2. At the middle of the island is a geothermal vent which powers a huge tower built into the rock.
3. Beneath the island is a gigantic network of subterranean cities.

I have reached the conclusion that we have come upon the lost continent of Altantis, intact beneath the ground we stand upon! I am currently translating all the written information I have found so far and will bring you up to speed when I've finished.

For now, head towards the tower structure. Assume we are expected.

As you probably guessed, the timelock has stripped you of most of your weaponry.

Secrets

1. When you come across an icy cliff, jump down onto the ledge. A XOP Gas Gun with rare ammo and 10 treasure artifacts awaits you (1000 points each). Jump down again into the teleporter to return to the top.
2. When you make your way through the ice tunnels and you find yourself at a fork in the 4 passages, you will need the one that leads up. There's a red armor and a heat-seeking rockets here. You also will see a group of 4 Dib Dib Dum Dums roasting a Gnaar.

Treasure

1. When you come across an icy cliff, go down and you'll see 5 treasure artifacts (1000 points each).
2. At the end of the level, there are 3 treasure artifact groups behind each building (33 total, 1000 points each).
